RIM Extends Free PlayBook Offer for Developers to March 15

RIM just kicked off their first Devcon asia and announced the release of the BlackBerry WebWorks which will give developers some new tools to develop for the BlackBerry PlayBook. This means that people who have skills in HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript can now make good looking apps for the PlayBook and can easily be exported to the BlackBerry. That is much easier and less expensive than the Adobe tools that have been available to developer until now.

  1. Sweet incentive for devs! I’m anxious to see some slick apps for the PB and BB

  2. Could the March 15 date allude to any clues of a release date for the PB itself?

  3. Uh oh. I suspect this means launch is sliding right. . . 🙁

    • Yeah, I hope it is just a way to extend the incentive to make apps for the PB even if it is available.

I should learn to “program.” 🙂

  4. Perhaps they haven’t gotten the response they thought they would… hopefully doesn’t affect the launch date

  5. Ah well. i just wana get into appworld developers but i cant with paypal.. 🙁

  6. This is great news, as I haven’t done a damn thing with the SDK besides install it…and it’s already outdated!
