We have heard quite a bit about the BlackBerry PlayBooks dual 1Ghz processor but until now we were wondering what processor it was exactly. The team at Engadget managed to get a RIM rep on the floor to confirm that it is running the cutting edge Texas Instruments OMAP 4430 1Ghz dual core processor. The thing I did notice is that TI already has a successor to the 4430 in the 4440 which can go as high as 1.5Ghz in both of its cores and doubles the 1080p, web page, and graphics performance over the 4430. On the other hand I don’t want to know what the battery life would be in that case.

Battery life is very important to me on the PlayBook. I’m willing to sacrifice some speed for longer battery life.

Made me so happy when I read about this. I was thinking about the tegra2 tablets etc that are coming out. I am glad that RIM still has one of the best chips out there.
