For some ridiculous reason RIM decide to restrict the availability of the three free holiday themes they released. At first they were only available to users in the US and Canada but now they have expanded them to more countries. (Thx iBenRowe) The crazy part is that each theme has a different list of countries where it is available. It makes me wonder what the hell is going through RIM’s head when they do these kinds of things…
Here are the themes and the countries they are available in:
| Happy Holidays Red | Let It Snow Blue | Share the Joy |
| Australia Bahamas, The Barbados Belize Bermuda Canada Cayman Islands Gibraltar Ireland Jamaica Mexico Netherlands Netherlands Antilles Singapore South Africa United Kingdom United States |

It IS crazy and that country list looks so random considering that the themes only differ in color scheme and wallpaper. I find it funny that the Let It Snow theme is available for tropical countries like Haiti and the Caymans, but the Share the Joy theme isn’t. RIM must not want to share joy with them, only thoughts of snow that will never come.

I think this is the last straw really. Is there any reason at all for me to stay using BB? This is so retarded it explains why RIM is going to fail soon. I’m changing my phone to iPhone next. FU RIM.

There is no reason for you to stay. How dare RIM prevent you from getting their 3 free OEM holiday themes and push you towards getting the multitudes of free 3rd party holiday themes instead. It so IS the last straw.
Lol.
Enjoy the iPhone. Don’t forget to post this over at CrackBerry. They love it when people overdramatize their exodus from BB.

Yeah that is a bit of an overkill reaction. Personally I just found it funny. Maybe they think each country has a different “holiday”?

That’s what I figured, too. A different “holiday” in different countries. But, the holidays that are coming up aren’t restricted to location as they are mainly religious-based. So, now I’m really unsure about RIM’s “theme greed” lol.
Makes me think of these classmates from China and Japan. They got Christmas lights and a tree along with buying and wrapping gifts because they wanted to “be more American.” I had to explain to them that it’s celebrated all over the world and Christmas isn’t an America-only holiday. They just assumed it was.

Okay, I can get why “Let it Snow” they might not release for Belize or Bermuda. But I mean what could be so strange or offensive or whatever that only 1 of the 3 is available in Gibraltar???
