UbiNav Turn by Turn GPS Navigation App Covering 10 Countries

While at the BlackBerry event last night I ran into a company called Ubiest which had one of their apps in the Developer Challenge. Ubiest actually took the grand prize in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region with their UbiNav app and I was shocked I had never even heard of it before. I had a chance to play with it and from my first impressions it blows TeleNav out of the water with their interface. It recently launched in North America covering the US, Canada, and Mexico in addition to their coverage of Italy, Spain, Netherlands, France, UK, Ireland, and Colombia so quite a few countries are available.

fav_eng_01_nof The first thing you will notice about the app is that it has a sweet carousel menu. The app turn by turn vocal instructions and has millions of businesses and POI in their databases. From the UbiNav you can map, find, navigate, and call companies. The 3D map view is really cool though they also have a 2D and overview map view. They even have social integration allowing you to post real time information about your trip on Facebook like “I am arriving at…”

Since I live in Manhattan I don’t have a car to truly give this a spin but another member of the team is going to follow up with a review. The different versions for each country are priced differently but they range from $29.99 to $59.99 a year. For example, the one year subscription price for North America including the US, Canada, and Mexico is $49.99. They are working on a lower price for just North America but that is hopefully coming soon. UbiNav has a free 15 day trial for you to give it a spin. If you try it out let us know what you think in the comments!

You can find all of the versions of UbiNav at this link in App World

  1. A great 100% italian product 😉

  2. It looks cool. I’m just glad that my carrier gives you a navigation application with it’s unlimited data plan (I know, it’s not unlimited). I wouldn’t pay a monthly or yearly cost for a direction app when you could go to a store and by a car GPS that you could carry for about the same price but just a one time purchase.

  3. It’ll be nice when Blackberry integrates a native maps app that’s even 50% of what this app is.
