App World Updated to v2.0.1.12 – Lowers Memory Footprint

BlackBerry App World

Over the weekend RIM decided to quietly update App World to v2.0.1.12. I did not notice much different in this version though it could be related to more users and countries getting carrier billing.

Terrence did point out to me that the new version has dropped its memory footprint to 794.3Kb from the previous versions 974Kb. Maybe RIM put it on a diet at the same time? I just wish RIM should add a feature where it does not keep on asking you for your username and password…

  1. Just a note that if you accessing AppWorld from unsupported country over WiFi don’t download this update. For some reason RIM has remove WiFi support…

  2. Yeah, it’s kinda a pain to have to keep entering your password, but since it DOES have access to your credit card I’m okay with it asking.

The reduced memory footprint is nice on my memory starved Storm.

  3. Hmm… Here on Rogers in Canada I can’t get anything newer than 2.0.0.36 although I’ve tried all the usual tricks. Perhaps it’s because of the Torch?

    Anyone else not seeing 2.0.1.12?

  4. I have the same problem on a 9700 on t-mobile.

  5. Not getting this 2.0.1.12 only the 2.0.0.36. Have not checked the beta site though.
