Did The Storm 9570 Get The Axe From Verizon?

storm3_thumb Here is some interesting information about the upgrade to the Storm line, Engadget is reporting that the Storm 9570 has been cancelled by Verizon. We recently saw two different devices on the wild. The first one we first reported on was a Prototype device that would appear to be the next generation of Storm line but this one has a different Screen and a trackpad and the second the 9570 with Verizon branding on it.

The main reasons why the 9570 may be cancelled is because it is not much of an upgrade with slight changes to the hardware and the form factor is just like the Storm 2. This line has received much criticism and praise from those who love it. RIM touch screen technology on Storm line is different from the capacitive technology found on most touch screen devices these days.

If this is the case hopefully we will see a different device release fairly soon, maybe it could be the Storm with the trackpad we saw earlier this month.

  1. I personally could care less about the supposed “Storm 3” (the one with trackpad) at this point. I’m still stuck with a 9530 and was looking forward to the potential in the 9570 Storm2 refresh. I guess I need to just tell my boss go ahead and get me a Storm2 9550 if one can still be found. I’ve suffered this 9530 and its miserly RAM and no wifi for long enough.
