BlackBerry Traffic App Updated To v1.3

94812.png The BlackBerry Traffic application just received an update on App World test center to version 1.3. The application allows users to see what their ETA will be and even share it with friends. It includes Traffic conditions like road closings, and take different routes. It also allows the user to look up contacts addresses from the phone book.

Some notes from the press release:

Release: 30.09.2010

File Size: 1409 KB

  • What’s new in BlackBerry Traffic 1.3?
    • Users can now select a traffic-based alternate route instead of the default direct route from the menu options. An alternate route is a route that may take less time depending upon current traffic conditions.  A direct route is a route that typically takes the least amount of travel time under normal conditions.
    • Nearby offers are now visible on a new drive view.  Offers may contain promotions and discounts for nearby businesses along your route.

you can pick up the update at this link from BB app world

  1. Link still only gives me v1.2

  2. Yeah it did the same for me on one device but not the other

  3. On my laptop it shows v1.3 and on my 9650 it shows v1.2??

  4. App World is absolutely horrendous for distributing updates out to its servers — it often takes days before everyone can access a new update. One would think that RIM would have a way around this for its own releases! 😉

  5. I tried the ALT + RST trick too, but still v1.2 on my 9650/

  6. It’s probably App World sucking at updating, however, as a beta tester, they sent me an email saying…

“…Please be aware that you have been identified as having a device listed in your BlackBerry Beta Zone user profile that is not currently compatible with the version of BlackBerry Traffic 1.3 scheduled for release to App World Test Center today. We expect a compatible version for your device to be made available in the near future.

Please be assured that we are working very hard to ensure compatibility with all devices as soon as possible, and in the meantime would request that you please continue testing the version currently available through Beta Zone (”

    I’m using the Bold 9000.

  7. Yeah there quite a few issues RIM needs to address with app world, like releasing the app world all over the world at the same time, funny bc of the name but not available all over the world.

  8. Yes, BB app world is not upto the mark, it still doesn’t have OS 6.0 compatibility. Its been 2 months since OS 6.0 was announced and crying out loud, this is a RIM product.

  9. What’s also “NEW”??
It is NOT compatible with the NEWEST BlackBerry, the TORCH!!
SHOCKER! Yet another non compatible app. Can not believe it, this app was created by BlackBerry!!

  10. This is a great app. I am very impressed with all the RIM backed apps: Twitter, FB, Podcasts, and Traffic. The ETA feature is great and its so easy to use.

  11. I still can’t find the 1.3 update on App World. Is there another way to find it?

  12. For whatever reason, BlackBerry® Traffic 1.3 was only made available for a handful of devices — namely:

    — the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9700,
    — the BlackBerry® Tour™ 9630,
    — the BlackBerry® Storm2™ 9550, and
    — the BlackBerry® Curve™ 8530.

The updated functionality is expected to be rolled out for additional (hopefully, all!) devices by the end of October. Until that time, 1.2 is the only option for the majority of devices. 🙁
