RIM Teases Us With Details of DevCon Announcements

Devcon 2010 Mike Kirkup deserves credit for really working hard to build some buzz for DevCon. Along with the recent discussion videos RIM has published they recently put up a sweet teaser giving us a taste of what is coming at the end of this month at DevCon 2010. RIM has even promised to show off BlackBerry 6 running on devices like the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and BlackBerry Pearl 9100.

Here is a quick summary of the teaser:

  • Some sort of push notification system between BlackBerry Devices using something like BlackBerry Messenger. I have been saying this for years! It would make a sweet Chess app if the moves were pushed between two devices or any multiplayer app.
  • Purchasing apps from App World’s desktop website is coming along with some other good stuff
  • New Enterprise Integration Services for Enterprise App Developers. Not sure exactly what that means… but it is about mobilizing enterprise information and applications.
  • Widgets getting a R-Evolution using the new WebKit browsers to create super apps. Not sure if this means RIM is going to add more widget API’s and a better developer kit but they just might! I have tried the current flavor of widgets and they left me wanting. Hopefully RIM has some good news in store.

I have heard rumors of quite a few more announcements or releases coming at DevCon so I would not considering this list complete. On the other hand there are quite a few juicy bits in there. What do you think?

If you still have not registered for DevCon and want to come head to the BlackBerry DEVCON 2010 site.
