Sprint Announces BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 in Grey and Purple

BlackBerry 9330Sprint has joined Verizon in announcing the BlackBerry Curve 9330 in graphite grey and royal purple. The new phone will be available online and over the phone starting September 26th which is the day before DevCon. The phone will be going for $49.99 after a $100 mail in rebate which is higher than the $29.99 price Verizon is offering it at. Stores will get the 9330 starting October 10th.

The BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 is a nice device with one annoying flaw. It has a subpar 320×240 screen resolution that really drags down the 512mb memory and fast processor. On the other hand it will be an affordable BlackBerry that will be upgraded in the future to BlackBerry 6.

NOTE: This is the first press release to specifically mention that the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 will get BlackBerry 6 in 2011

Should be interesting to see how this device does…

  1. I guess the best part of this news is that Sprint usually roles out upgrades faster than Verizon, and will probably roll BlackBerry 6 before Verizon does. The bad news is even that is likely MONTHS away which doesn’t bode well for either 9330 or 9650 owners. 🙁

I fond it humorous the “3G” moniker stuck on this though, when its the same “3G” that the 8530 had.
