When we mentioned that BlackBerry Traffic was open for public beta consumption many people were annoyed that it did not work on their device. Turns out that it is only supported on certain devices even though App World gives no indication of that. It would have been really nice if RIM just detailed these in App World instead of having to create a knowledge base article for it. App World is still showing that the BlackBerry Traffic beta is available for all devices in the US and Canada but sadly it is not…
Here is the list of supported devices:
- BlackBerry Curve 8530 smartphone
- BlackBerry Curve 8350i smartphone
- BlackBerry Curve 8900 smartphone
- BlackBerry Bold 9000 smartphone
- BlackBerry Storm 9500 smartphone
- BlackBerry Storm 9520 smartphone
- BlackBerry Storm 9530 smartphone
- BlackBerry Storm 9550 smartphone
- BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone
You will also need a BlackBerry that either has a full keyboard or touchscreen along with OS 4.6+ and 1.1 MB of free application space. With that said if you fall into the limited devices you can pick up the BlackBerry Traffic beta at this link.

From the Beta Zone testing I remember seeing it didn’t work on 9630 or 9650. Maybe you got lucky! Lol

Maybe, but it works fine. Just used it from work to store, and store to home. I really don’t see why the 9650 would not be supported as it is out a few months already and has a recent OS 5 release.

FYI Its works for the Tour as well. You must have Blackberry Maps downloaded for the app to work.
