Sprint BlackBerry Curve 8350i Gets OS 5.0.0.807 Officially

8350i OS 5.0.0.807 Awhile back I remember that Boost Mobile was the only variant of the BlackBerry Curve 8350i that received OS 5.0. Some people tried getting it to work with Sprint/Nextel devices but ran into issues all around. DavidH let me know that it looks like Sprint has finally rolled out OS 5.0.0.807 for the BlackBerry Curve 8350i though it is not available on their regular download sites.

David did find a direct link on BlackBerry.com that takes you straight to OS 5.0.0.807 for the BlackBerry Curve 8350i.

I don’t have a device to try this out on but if you do please report back in the comments if it works!

  1. So with not even a whiff of a rumor of a 9xxx iDEN device, could the very nice 8350i be the last Nextel BlackBerry? Sprint toyed with “hybrid” devices when they first acquired Nextel. PTT has never taken off on anything BUT iDEN yet PTT phones remain popular with service businesses. I wonder if RIM could insert an iDEN radio in the Bold for a “hybrid” 9650i. Seems to me a hybrid that can browse and email and such on EV-DO, talk on CDMA, and PTT on iDEN is the only chance Sprint has of maintaining high ARPU customer interest in iDEN. If they even care any more…

  2. Cdma for voice would still be a disaster. All they need is updated devices and put evdo or wimax in for data. The compression that rim does on the stock browser does well on Iden and opera 4.2 makes it roll. Opera 5 just sucks.Iden has better coverage than sprint cdma in many many places and dont even get started on there attemp for roaming. I have way to many problems on sprint roaming to even put up with it as a main device. I would rather have Iden with no roaming than sprint with roaming or go to someone else.Give us a bold and updated curve on straight Iden for now.
