Leaked BlackBerry 6 Developer Briefing Shows Slick API’s

Developer Brief I am loving the detailed offered in these leaked slides from a BlackBerry 6 developer brief presentation scored by BBCool. They show some awesome API’s that I really cannot wait for! On the other hand many of them are things that we already knew about but this offers some interesting details. The details are a bit old since it still says the Advertising Service SDK is coming in the first half of 2010 but it does offer some nice details.

Here are some that stuck out to me:

  • Convenience Key API – Lets apps register convenience keys to open them. Also accepts “Press and hold” or “Multiple Presses”
  • Multiple Contact Lists!!!!!!!!!!! Need I say more?
  • Update Calendar events without sending attendees updates
  • Finally RIM is adding two additional phone fields with my favorite “Mobile2”
  • Search for a contact by their phone number
  • API for 1D and 2D barcode scanning for all apps!
  • Crowdsourced geo-location API is coming!
  • API’s for SOAP, REST, ATOM, & RSS
  • Parsers for JSON XML, & RSS

Let us know if you spot any other gems in the slide deck at BBCool.
