BlackBerry Curve 8500 Shows Up in BlackBerry 6 Developer Slides

I am not sure if we are reading too much into this but Piotr from BBNews.pl pointed out that the BlackBerry 6 developer brief slides that just leaked show off the BlackBerry Curve 8500 series device twice. So far we have been under the assumption that BlackBerry 6 would not be coming to devices with less than 512Mb of memory but maybe that is wrong. As you can see in the two slides below the BlackBerry Curve 8500 is being shown right near BlackBerry 6 API’s. It could possibly be the BlackBerry Curve 9300 series but either way it would be pretty groundbreaking if RIM managed to make BlackBerry 6 work on them.

On the other hand it could just be that the person who created the slide was lazy or just not thinking about it… On the other hand wouldn’t it be awesome if older devices received even a slimmed down version of BlackBerry 6? I know many users who would die for the WebKit browser.

  1. Wouldn’t it be awesome to see how sucky a high end Webkit browser would be on a 320×240 screen with a trackball? Hey, as long as we’re going old school let’s roll back to a 71xx with 16 or 32M of ram and a thumb wheel! 😉

    from my BlackBerry Storm…

  2. Wow. Super revamp across all models.. Kinda not viable in terms for profit…..
