Verizon BlackBerry Storm2 9550 & Curve 8530 Now End Of Life?

BlackBerry Storm2 The latest rumor coming from the team @BBLeaks is that Verizon is putting End Of Life status on the BlackBerry Storm2 9550 and BlackBerry Curve 8530. These devices just came out less than a year ago so this is some fast turnover for RIM. On the other hand we kind of expected something like this since the Curve2 8530 is going to move to the Curve 9300 and the Storm2 9550 is going to get a refresh with BlackBerry 6 and 512MB of memory to support it.

Here is the wording:

  • The Curve2 is end of life – Final Shipments August
Refer to the “Stock Check” tool in POS for on hand availability
Device will retire on 8/1, replacement coming in Q3/Q4
  • BlackBerry Storm2 (9550):
The Storm2 is end of life – Final Shipments August
Refer to the “Stock Check” tool in POS for on hand availability
Device will retire on 8/15, replacement coming in Q3/Q4

I wonder if RIM and Verizon will be making a big deal of the Odin refresh for the Storm with BlackBerry 6. Verizon has sometimes done huge promotions like they did with the original Storm or they do much quieter launches like the Storm2 9550 and Bold 9650.

  1. Fingers crossed for an updated all touch device to replace this old Storm.
