Verizon Killing Unlimited Data Plans This Month?

Automatons We all knew that unlimited data plans could not last forever since carriers love to nickel and dime customers. First they put a 5GB data cap on practically all data plans and then AT&T recently moved to limited data plans with a 200MB and 2GB option. I never switched myself since 2GB for $25 does not make sense if you have 5GB for $30.

Engadget is reporting that Verizon is also planning on moving to limited data plans later this month. The date is set at July 29th so far which is just around the corner.

Anybody else sad to see the death of unlimited data plans? AT&T claims they needed them to stop the 2% of users that were using a disproportionate amount of bandwidth. It is now a few months in and my AT&T speeds have stayed abysmal. Go figure…

  1. I commented on this when AT&A did it. I knew others would jump on the new bandwagon. Sad day for the consumer.

  2. Surest sign yet that Verizon’s getting the iPhone

  3. Here in Argentina we still have unlimited BIS data on HSDPA for 20 usd / month.
When you exceed 3gb / month the carrier limits the speed to 128 kbits / s

    For the time being…

  4. I called Verizon when I read this. The rep I spoke to said Verizon has NO PLANS to change their unlimited data plan.
