Frozen let us know that Opera Mini has been updated to version 5.1. According to the press release from Opera the new update “further improves the browsing experience on phones with limited memory. So far this new version seems a bit snapier, loads page faster. Opera Mini works great on BlackBerry it does not freeze like the other browsers. Allows to view in either full mode or mobile mode.

No good on my 8100 Pearl. Way too slow, stalls at every trackball move, and takes forever to scroll around because of the constant second-long stalling pop-up of the hourglass with every scroll movement.
Sticking with 4.2 which is much faster and smoother until I get a newer BB that can actually handle Opera 5.x.
Pages render better, but not worth it for me if it takes several minutes just to pan down a page.

IMO, I hate there verzion 5 since they released it. I hate the UI and it laggy and pages go slow. The only thing I like about it is the tabbed browsing. I wish I could go back to 4.2 but it does not work on my 8530.

Yay, they fixed the crazy trackball/pad issue.
