Borders Launches BlackBerry eBook App & Bookstore – 5 Free eBooks

bb200 We mentioned before that Borders was working with Kobo (formerly ShortCovers) to provide eBooks and mobile apps. RIM even came out and promoted the Kobo app. It looks like Borders has now teamed up with Kobo to create a Borders branded version of their app powered by Kobo’s service. They are trying to play the added value card by offering its Borders Rewards loyalty program benefits including gift cards and free shipping to their 36 million Rewards members.

Borders is pushing hard into the eBook market after a late start. They plan on launching new Area-e sections in their store to demo products and answer customers questions about eBooks. Also between July 9-11, anyone who downloads the free Borders app will get 5 free top-selling books, including Frankenstein by Dean Koontz, One Shot by Lee Child, The Alchemyst by Michael Scott, Julia Child’s Kitchen Wisdom and Master your Metabolism by Jillian Michaels.

If you are interested in checking out Border’s new Kobo app you can find it at this link or read more about it at this link.

  1. Interesting, it’s a new app and they are in version 3.0.0 already.

  2. I just installed the app and ran it, logged in but don’t see the free books already there. How do I add them without having to pay?

  3. Yea. How do we get the free books?

  4. Oh. EDIT: Only for USA customers.. =(

  5. I recently downloaded this app on my Blackberry Curve 8900 and didn’t get to enjoy it. It takes up a lot of memory. When I tried to open it, my phone completely crashed. When I tried to reboot it, it wouldn’t do anything.I was on the phone with T-Mobile for hours.
