Apps To Help You Plan Your 4th Of July Travels

During the long holiday weekend many travel and if you have a BlackBerry there are many great apps out there to help you plan your travel or guide you to your destination.  Some of the applications am going to mention are free and provide great help.

poyntscreencap_thumb[1] Poynt – This application is free and it has been one of my favorite apps since the app was launched.  Some of the features this application includes: points of interest, movie information times and previews, nearby gas prices and location, current weather, map your destination. It also has yellow and white pages. You can download the application from app world or by pointing your device to m.poynt.com read more about poynt here.

bbsc-inf[1] Trapster – Want to stay out of trouble and avoid speed traps during your travels check out trapster. You should always stay safe when driving but when traveling to road your normally don’t travel through  this application provides alerts to  real time and potential speed traps. You can also alert other drives who use the app if you happen to pass by one. This application is also free and can be downloaded at www.trapster.com also available through app world. Captureon05272010230524_thumb1_thumb[1] TeleNav – TeleNav  is a paid subscription application available through app world and through most US mobile networks. TeleNav offers turn by turn directions, with voice guidance.  The application offers quite a few other services, allowing you look up POI, if you miss your turn it re-routes you fast.  Requires GPS enabled BB also, available on app world and at www.telenav.com offers a 30 day free trial.

Google maps –  offers turn by turn directions but does not offer voice guided directions. Can be used without a GPS it triangulates your location using cell towers. Google maps is not as accurate like other apps but is a free service. You can download from m.google.com

Waze[1] Waze – This is a new application that offers turn by turn voice guided directions and is free. Also offers POI look up, with some social features. The application also allows you to alert other drivers of traffic problems and allows you to do the same for other drivers. Read more about it here.
