We talked about rumors involving BlackBerry Shield for BIS some time ago. It is a security service with features such as remote device wipe, remote password change, “Lost & Found” screen, tracking, backup and alarm. That kind of functionality has always been available by means of commercial applications, but BlackBerry Shield is supposed to be free and integrated into BIS 3.0 service.
It isn’t released yet so many details are still not clear, but Polish site BB News has screenshots of the service/application. It certainly looks very interesting. That site is of course written in Polish, so if you don’t speak a word of Polish, like me, you may want to view the site through Google Translate.

This is great news for users on BIS! Not so good news for developers like SmrtGuard.
from my BlackBerry Storm…

Another option in the remote backup/restore, find your phone type apps.
May be native, but will it be a RIM or Carrier option and will it be free?
