RIM Trademarks “BlackBerry Drive” – Why?

bbdrive-trademark This is how rumors start… Anand over @GoRumors let us know that RIM has filed for trademark protection on “BlackBerry Drive.” The application does not really describe what the trademark will be used for and RIM covered and paid for 17 different classes of use for the trademark from headgear to gift cards to mugs…

Anand thinks that this means RIM is working on some sort of keyfob for people to unlock doors and I think he is on to something. RIM purchased Harman’s QNX software unit back in April and they make in car entertainment systems. Maybe RIM is planning on calling the system “BlackBerry Drive.” Or better yet maybe a “BlackBerry Drive” describes the whole experience from opening your car with your BlackBerry to streaming Pandora over the speakers.

What do you think?
