While at a RIM event on Wednesday I ran into Rdio which is a new social music service from the founders of Skype and Kazaa. The whole service is not available yet but I got a demo of it at the event and it looks pretty cool. It will offer unlimited on demand access to over five million songs for a monthly subscription. You can also sync music to your BlackBerry to listen to offline.
The real draw to the application and service is the social discovery part. You can follow people and see what they are listening to and then play that music. Its an easy way to discover new relevant music from your friends or musicians. It can also give you recommendations based on your tastes and listening behavior. To get you up and running they have a tool to replicate your iTunes and Windows Media Player music libraries so it is immediately added to your Rdio collection. You can also collaborate with other users to create shared playlists along with sharing your favorite songs on Facebook & Twitter.
You can sign up to be notified when the service launches in the US at www.rdio.com or just stay tuned to BerryReview and we will mention it at launch!

sorry but the real draw of the app is the fact that you can take the music with you offline. I am gonna load the 16 up with music 🙂
