Verizon Officially Releases BlackBerry Tour 9630 OS

Verizon 732 Tour We knew it was coming but its nice to see that Verizon has pushed out the latest update for the BlackBerry Tour 9630. Supposedly this new version adds quite a few fixes that Verizon was sorely needing but its kind of sad that this finally comes out after the 9650 was already released.

You can pick up OS for the Tour 9630 at this link on Verizon’s site or through wireless update or desktop manager.

PS: Verizon has also finally released the desktop install download for the BlackBerry Bold 9650 so you can get those on your BES devices now.

  1. Actually, the 9650 Desktop Manager installer was available on the VZW site on Friday by 18:00 EDT. Selecting the MR 2.5 release actually download OS v5.0.0.732 — they just failed to update the download page.

  2. Why is it “sad” that it’s released after 9650 came out?

    • I am actually amazed how quickly VZW turned this around given their longstanding history with delayed BlackBerry OS updates! 😉

The 9650 was released on Friday, 4 June 2010 with OS v5.0.0.699 — a week later (Friday, 11 June 2010, 18:00 EDT), they pushed out (including an updated platform to improve radio performance) both OTA (for non-BES users) and via download from their website. Exactly three days later (Monday, 14 June 2010, 18:00 EDT), VZW pushed out the “same” OS for the 9630, again both OTA and via download from their website. This is SO atypical of VZW!

    • They dragged their feet on 9630 updates and finally release a pretty solid one after a new revision comes out. I feel like its the Bold 9000 that only really got stable a year after it was released.

  3. Updated, yay!

(Of course, looks like all my 3rd-party apps have lost their settings, so now I get to spend the rest of the day reconfiguring them. Remind me again why I still use a BB? Sigh.)

  4. Great and timely pls keep it up VZW such should come as often as possible until a stable OS is gotten and again thanks a lot

  5. All I know is that I did the desktop upgrade and then my bluetooth Plantronics 220 lost about 70% of it’s volume. I then downgraded to v4 and the volume level came back up to normal. I’ve gone back and forth 3 times with the exact same result. Now I have to fine a new bluetooth headset that will work. Not very happy with RIM.

  6. What did you end up with, i did the same and volume was lost as well
