RIM Considering Calling 9800 Slider a BlackBerry Torch 9800

BlackBerry 9800 I love rumors like this. The latest coming from our friends @CrackBerry is that RIM is considering dropping the Bold product name off of the upcoming 9800 Slider and calling it the BlackBerry Torch 9800. It seems like even RIM is on the fence as to what the device will be named even though the 9800 device I saw was branded as a Bold.

We can continue speculating on if RIM should launch yet another product line after they put the Tour line to rest but I will let you all have the honors in the comments. I kind of like the Torch brand name. It sounds Bold… 🙂

What do you think?

  1. Who cares what it’s called… as long as I can get one soon!!!

  2. Torch is good. Don’t really care what’s its gonna be called. Just want to know if and when rogers will be out with it…

  3. Need for T-Mo!

  4. Just make it good and flawless

  5. Personally I think that’s a pretty dumb name. What’s torch supposed to mean? It sounds like a chinese ripoff brand of the apple Touch. What next for Rim, the iPed? Oops, china already beat them too it.

Personally I think when you try to imitate your competitor too closely like this, you just look desperate and trying to compensate for your lack of product leadership.

  6. They would be better off calling it the “BlackBerry Slide”

  7. I vote for the ‘BlackBerry Awesome’

  8. Who cares what they name it as long as it’s able to compete with the damn iPhart in perf as well as function!

That, and that they put it on the Verizon network. AT&T BLOWS!
