RIM & Motorola Settle Patent Litigation

Boxing ExecutivesRIM & Motorola came to their senses and buried the hatchet on their patent litigation. Way back in January Motorola tried banning imports of BlackBerrys due to patent infringement of 6 patents. Motorola’s claim was that:

RIM’s products infringe on at least one of the patents, which cover technology for Wi-Fi, application management, user interface and power management

RIM fired back by saying that Motorola infringed on 9 or RIM’s patents. According to a joint press release by RIM and Motorola they have entered into a settlement and license agreement which ends all litigation. They have also entered into a long term cross licensing arrangement over rights to technologies such as 2G, 3G, 4G, 802.11 and wireless email. They will also transfer certain patents to each other.

Anybody else glad RIM managed to get rid of another of these lawsuits?
