PrivacyStar Call Blocker Updated With Crowd Sourcing Features

privacystar PrivacyStar is rapidly improving their call blocking app with new features. They let us know they have added three new features in version 1.0.67 of their app that throw some crowd sourcing and social features.

  • SmartBlock – PrivacyStar will use crowdsourced data to automatically block the top 25 blocked numbers from PrivacyStar users. The list is kept current according to user activity. People will no longer have to wait to get an unwanted caller before they can block them.
  • PrivayStar users will be able to share with friends and family the numbers of nuisance callers. When an unwanted caller is received, a PrivacyStar user can choose to send that number in an email to a friend. This is particularly helpful when dealing with debt collectors who often target the numbers of an entire family.
  • Do Not Disturb with custom text message – the caller will be forwarded to voicemail and receive  a custom text acknowledging their call.

Personally I think Mr Number has a cooler implementation of crowd sourced call blocking but the privacy implications of that app still scare me. If you are interested in PrivacyStar you can pick up the free app in App World at this link or directly at www.privacystar.com.
