Hotness! Bitbop 3G TV Streaming Beta Released by Fox Mobile

Bitbop We ran into Bitbop back at WES 2010 and they showed us off their product. They did not have much to show then so we did not cover it in depth but they were working on a “Hulu” like service for mobile devices.

They just launched it under the name Bitbop with content from 25 different providers including FOX, NBC, Comedy Central, & CBS. It works over 3G along with Wi-Fi which is a nice perk. Currently the service is free but expect there to be a premium service in the future with no commercials and full length shows and movie rentals.

Check it out at www.bitbop.com and let us know what you think!

  1. 3 words…Oh, My God :-O
    This is so awesome.
I’ll give a breakdown of what needs to be done. The download app. which is in beta is hard to download. First you need to register and create a user name and password. After that you get an email with a link to click on to open the web browser, then from the web browser you enter your phone number and they send you an SMS…oh boy…then you download it from the link provided in the SMS.
After that, it’s very easy and the resolution is quite nice.
I played 24 from 1pm to 2pm. When clicking on the icon you get a preview. You must add the video to your queue to watch it. You can watch on 3G and….ARE YOU READY FOR THIS…you can download the shows too. One 24 show is 118 MB. It’s not fast but acceptable for a free service.
I might be migrating to this for watching shows on the GO…Love it love it love it.

  2. Yet they don’t support the storm … the true entertainment blackberry…

  3. Touch touchscreen is a double edged sword!

  4. This app rocks. Once it streams or you download the show there is no lag or loading along the way. As long as they dont price it out of this world I will buy it once it comes out of beta. Nice to see an app do what it says it will do.

  5. Oh yea, going to chk this one.

  6. awesomeness

  7. Horribly buggy. Might be my avail memory or OS version (.586), but my downloads bog dow my 9700 to the point of self reset or perpetual OS hourglass. Also when I get an episode to begin downloading it never gets past 99%.

  8. Tried streaming a couple shows on my Tour on Verizon and FORGET IT. 5 bars and a full battery and the show was unwatchable it paused and buffered so often. But put a show in your Queue and download it (half hour shows are 60MB, 1 hour shows 120MB) and they play back just great. Will be awesome with some better queue management, especially if I can manage the queue from my PC and tell it what shows I want pushed down to my phone for watching later.

  9. Works amazing on my 8900. Love this app!
