BB Bold 9700 Official OS From Hutchinson

This is unexpected, usually we see higher OS versions leaked before they are officially release but the guys over at CB spotted this official release. You can pick up this update at this LINK.

ScreenHunter_05 May. 25 18.35

This is an official OS release but if you never done this before we recommend always doing a back up of your settings and 3rd party apps before doing the upgrade. If you do not know how to upgrade your BlackBerry OS please start by reading this great step by step guide. Don’t forget to delete the vendor.xml file located in c:program files>common files>research in motion>apploader to install it on a different carriers device.

  1. downloading now..

  2. I just did the OS update, down graded to the.351 and up to .680 but my berry kept on showing .442 so i went back to .656, has anyone else experience this ?

pls reply back to me @ 2224A03A

  3. One possible thing might be that you use DM to install it, make sure you delete all older OS from the computer. Sometimes DM only installs official OS from your carrier and it will download it before installing. Even though this is an official OS it may not detect it. One suggestion is to clean all older os files from pc then open the standalone app loader. Delete the vendorID file also.

  4. That thing bricked my phone…back to the 656 version
I even tried the tutorial to restore my phone when it was first bricked by .680 to .680…it wouldn’t even recognize the software is actually for the phone itself…very unusual.
First time to brick my phone though…I hope that was just me since I didn’t hear anyone else had a problem like that with this specific OS.

  5. Sorry to hear that, did you get it to work now?

Sometimes it could be errors with the computer and settings too but it has happened to me before. Did you tried taking the battery out method? And I find it the best way to start is do a computer reboot after installing the os then doing the upgrade.

    • Yeah it’s working now thanks for asking.
That problem happened to me on both computers I owe so, it’s more than just human error. I was about to blame the cable (since I had problems before with the connection line) but my laptop has a completely different cable, and when I tried the loader.exe I had very similar symptoms of lack of recognition of the OS .680/Bold 9700. I am not new to this since I installed almost every leak and offical OS since the pearl 8100.
It might have been a faulty downloaded file…which I doubt

  6. I downloaded this an attempted to install multiple times. However, when running the exe it keeps crashing my windows explorer. I will continue to attempt to use it, but do not have much hope. I have had issues with 656, and want to see if they are corrected.

    OS: W7 x64

  7. Installed with no issues, never really tested the phone out of the box. Seems to be working well though, very snappy and no crashes.

  8. Have installed v.680 but when using the app loader but the phone is only reading v.656? even after deleting the vendor.xml file, pls assist ?

  9. Make sure you delete all older os files installed on the pc, and do a reboot then try it again
