Cardstar Puts Their App on a Diet – Adds Usability Features

CardStar CVSLast time we mentioned Cardstar I called out their app for being bloated at 3.6MB and missing some critical features. Danny over @Cardstar was kind enough to let us know that they have listened and fixed quite a few performance and usability issues with the app.

The new version of Cardstar:

  • Reduced its size by 70% to 1.1MB
  • Added SD Card backup and restore
  • Search box in the merchant list
  • other bug fixes.

You can read more about Cardstar at or pick up the new version of the app at this link OTA.

  1. OMG this is an awesome app! How did I miss this one before? Thanks for the info

  2. has anyone used this app at a store and if so what are the cashiers impression when you pull out ur BB for them to scan to get discounts?

  3. I installed this originally and it did work well but only with handheld scanners. If I tried with the table scanners, it did not work.
I just downloaded this new update and Im really hoping that it will work on the table scanners since 90% of my barcodes use table scanners.
Will let you know later tonight.

  4. Much more reasonable footprint!

  5. they need an option to backup the entries in the app. i lost all mine when i upgraded my OS.

  6. What a great idea. Just slimmed down my wallet.
