While at WES we heard rumors that T-Mobile was not going to carry the new pearl 3G which would be a shame since everyone at WES loved the device. Especially since T-Mobile made a killing on the original 71XX and subsequent 81XX Pearl devices. The current rumor on the grapevine is that instead of the 3G pearl T-Mobile may launch a 3G version of either 85XX series or maybe the 93XX. None of the major U.S carriers have announced the pearl 3G so this could change in the next few days maybe weeks so take this as rumors at this time. So if the rumors are true were you waiting to purchase the new Pearl 3G or rather have a full QWERTY 3G curve?

Need the 98XX slider. That will be a killer phone. I thought the 8520 was already a 3G Curve. I think the 8530 is 3G isn’t it?

The only device that is 3G from BlackBerry on Tmobile is the 9700.

Ok, the 8520 is not 3G. I have a Sprint 8530 from work (getting that replaced with a 9650) but I thought the 8530 is a 3G phone, no?

Don’t really get why it’s one or the other. I doubt most of the people considering a Pearl are considering a Curve in the first place.

I carry 2 BB’s. My Pearl is the personal device, the 9700 is for work. Both see HEAVY use. I will be very annoyed if tmobile does pass on the 3G pearl.

Agreed. I had a Pearl 8100, then switch to the Curve 8320 – purely for the WiFi, as it was not available on the Pearl at the time. The Curve is nearing the end of it’s life now.. and I was really holding out for the Pearl 3G. Truth is, I miss the compact style of the Pearl, but I value the connectivilty capabilities. I’ve been a T-Mobile customer for 7 years now, and I don’t really want to go anywhere. If this news is true, it breaks my heart.
