Now here is a cool new advertising pseudo social marketing effort from RIM. They just announced that they will be featuring a two story high (~20ft) BlackBerry on the Beaubourg Esplanade in Paris, France. The HUGE BlackBerry 9700 will be put up from May 20th until May 22nd allowing users to broadcast messages and pictures through the Facebook fan page for BlackBerry France. I know many of you will not be able to head down over to Paris to view your message but you will be able to view a livestream of the event on the same Facebook page.
According to the official BlackBerry blog these are the instructions you need to follow to broadcast your message. I cannot confirm if they are correct since I cannot read the French instructions.
- Visit www.facebook.com/BLACKBERRYFR and select the “Love concours” tab to load the message creator application.
- Select a wallpaper, and use the text tool to craft a message that tells everyone what you love to do. You can also select an image from your Facebook albums to accompany your message.
- Select the time and date you want your message to be broadcast, so you can tell your friends to watch for it!
- After your message has been created it will be broadcast during the 20th-22nd of May on the world’s biggest BlackBerry smartphone in Paris, France.

Nice Photoshop work in that pic. I like how it looks exactly like the phone isn’t really there & doesn’t have a shadow. Get an iPhone and you don’t have to get excited about stupid promotions like this because you’ll actually have a cool phone.
