Cisco Releases WebEx BlackBerry Client a Year Late

WebEx BlackBerry We heard back in February of 2009 that WebEx was working on a BlackBerry client for their service. It was promised for April 2009 but never saw the light of day until this week. A year late Cisco has made good on its promise and has finally released a BlackBerry client for WebEx. The new app lets you join Cisco WebEx meetings from your BlackBerry and the system will automatically call you back on your BlackBerry. It seems like you would have to use a headset or speakerphone for this to work but it sounds pretty cool.

The app also gives hosts some options and features like the ability to start a scheduled meeting and to pass presenter control to another presenter. Users can also view shared presentations, desktops, applications, and more along with seeing who is talking and chatting with other attendees.

Most WebEx meetings I attend would not work from a BlackBerry because they usually have text you would not be able to read on such a small screen. Still it might be great for sales people who need to dial in from the road and see the PowerPoint slides their engineer is presenting.

You can learn more about the app at and download it at the same link.

  1. It’s free, so it might be handy to have hanging around if you have room for the app.
