Nuance Releases Free Dragon Dictation for Email App

Dragon for Email Nuance let us know that they have made their Dragon for Email dictation application available to BlackBerry users. It lets you do everything in your email app using your voice to dictate from replying, composing, and forwarding email. There are usually some privacy concerns with apps like these since they upload your information to their servers but Nuance has a clear privacy policy that they will only upload the names and not the contact information for your contacts.

To really top everything Nuance claims it will help you type emails 5 times as fast. I don’t really buy that but in my tests it was quite convenient.

You can find the Dragon for Email app free in App World at this link. Sadly it is only currently available for the BlackBerry Tour, BlackBerry Storm and BlackBerry Storm2 on the Verizon network; the BlackBerry Bold series and BlackBerry Curve series on the AT&T network; and, the BlackBerry Curve series and the BlackBerry Bold on the T-Mobile network.

  3. What gives? I have a Storm2 from Verizon and I still can’t download it????

  4. Downloaded on my Verizon Storm 2. At the config screen, though, it passed the “speech key assigned” function but failed the remainder? Anyone solve this?

    • We had this problem and had to uninstall the current version and reinstall it. We noticed some phones seem to like the right convience key better than the left??? Not sure why!!! The software seems to work well for Tour 9630 but not so hot for the storms. Dragon runs in the back ground at all times and some inhibits the on screen keyboard.

  5. “Not available on my carrier/device” and I’m using an unlocked Rogers Bold 9700 on Fido. 🙁

  6. Same problem as Jim with my VZW Storm2. Left message with Nuance support but nothing heard back yet.

  7. With Verizon Storm 9559, cannot override dictation using dragon and use keyboard. With dragon installed, keyboard is locked out for creating/replying using email.

  8. Works great on my VZW Storm 2. Makes it so much easier to create better responses to emails when I’m not in the office.
