HOT! Screenshots of BlackBerry OS 6.0 Leaked!

BlackBerry-OS-6.0-1 BlackBerry-OS-6.0-3 BlackBerry-OS-6.0-4

The BoyGenius just struck solid gold with some awesome screenshots of BlackBerry OS 6.0 that really wet my appetite. It looks like RIM is trying to hit OS 6.0 out of the park though it is not a huge change from previous builds. The odd thing was that the BoyGenius saw the device from an AT&T source which does not have a touchscreen device yet the screenshots are of a touchscreen device…

Some things I saw that stood out in their sneak peak:

  • Tabbed browsing with WebKit
  • Messages built in with RSS feeds and Facebook/Twitter
  • Customizable homescreen with pages you can scroll left and right to browse
  • Popups with gesture support
  • New media player
  • Possibly coming this summer in June/July. May be announced at WES?

  1. Would you have any information on a new touch handsets going to T-Mobile with this new OS, if any?

  2. Any ideas if the Storm 1 will be able to use this OS?

  3. I can’t say that I’m excited over this, looks average to me.

  4. I have a feeling that is not all there is too it but it is better than nothing and my guess is it will launch with some of the new devices like the slider maybe some support for other device later down the road.

  5. Looks more like a skin/theme than an actual OS.
This is all visual, what has changed in the working layer, we need to know that.

  6. Fully judging a new OS off of three screenshots is pretty much a waste of time.

  7. First line of CNET article on this reads:

It may not be as dramatic a discovery as the likely iPhone 4.0 prototype…

Perhaps this would make it more exciting: In this new OS, users will be able to Cut and Paste! They will be able to multitask and run more than one app at a time! They will be able to group apps in folders! They will be able to set up multiple sound profiles! (just like they’ve been able to do for the last five years.)
