Linkedin For BlackBerry Now Available For Download

Capture on 03-30-2010 00-22-29 The Linkedin application for BlackBerry has been rumored for quite sometime to debut sometime this year and the wait is no more, today the application is officially available for download. The application looks like a combination of the official Twitter client, myspace and facebook  BlackBerry apps. I have not been active as much as I liked to with Linkedin but just maybe with the new application I will be able to update my profile more than once a month.

You can pick up the new application by going to

So far from what I can see this are some of the features:

  • Update status
  • Vie profile
  • Search
  • View timeline
  • View friends list
  • View pending invitations
  • Check messages

If you find other features let us know in the comments as well as any other thoughts you have about this application.

Thanks to Scott for sending this in. Via

  1. I am not a big user of LinkedIn but I hope that this app will change all that.

  2. Other features:

    – link to BB contact = sync email address, company name and photo (adds linkedin to BB category field).

    – notification area icon and message count for new invites

The contact sync is a manual exercise from what I can work out so far… which is not fun with 100’s of connections… my BB has ground to a halt as I write this so may be syncing in the background??

Menu fonts seem huge (and small on focus) but may be my theme?

    Overall looks pretty good…

    • How long did you give the contact sync? When I allowed the contact integration, it told me it would run in the background. I checked back after a few hours, and 90%+ of my contacts were linked without me doing a thing. For the few contacts that are both FaceBook friends and LinkedIn connections, it seems that the LinkedIn profile picture trumps the FaceBook profile picture, but that wasn’t really a big deal with me. I have ~200 contacts and about 60 connections, so mine probably wouldn’t have taken as long as someone with a few hundred connections.

  3. “Unable to login: Unable to connect to LinkedIn. Please check your connection and try again.”

Does this use the carrier’s APN or BIS/BES?

    • “Unable to login: Unable to connect to LinkedIn. Please check your connection and try again.”

i am having the same issue and msg device is 9700…Need Help 🙁

      • Dear All,
finally i find my way to run this application over BIS

1: get your self to a position where you can find wifi internet access
2: connect your BB device with internet
3: at login screen in Linkedin application where you enter login & pwd goto option
4: then un-check all connection accept wifi
5: press back button then save and then try to connect via application
6: after successful login try to update your contact/update via wifi
7: then again goto to option menu in application and select all connection types
8: also turn off your wifi from manage connection menu…
9: here you application will update it information WAP.

this is tested and i am happy with it…

        Cheers to all.

    • check my comments for BIS solution regarding linkedin app.

  4. Morning all, the link doesn’t seem to work directly from the BB browser, however if you type in the browser it will work!
    @Robert, I believe it’s BIS!

  5. Not supported on BB Storm yet!

  6. Supported connections: TCP, WAP, BES, WIFI or an Auto

BIS-B is not supported, no good in my opinion. Hope they fix this.

    • This seems to be a common theme with the first release of a lot of apps. I never understood why and not sure I truly know the advantage of BIS-B over the other connection types.

  7. Booo! Support only for Tour, Curve, and Bold. No Storm/Storm2 Support!!!

    Boo! Hiss …!!!!!

    • Exactly. I’m getting really tired of the Storm being treated like an after thought. Wishing I would have held out for the Bold 9700 now.

  8. I can’t even login on my BB9700. I get “Please enter a valid email address”. I guess all users are now part of the QA team. Sent them the error, possible reason why, they didn’t even acknowledge it… pretty bad 🙁

  9. Terrible, they release an application that can’t connect through BIS. They need to fix this ASAP, if not this app is crap!, not useful at all! once they fix the BIS connection, you will get better comments!

  10. Linkedin has taken a lot of time to develop an app for BlackBerry, as a professional Linkedin user I was hoping for a Linkedin app from a long time, I’m happy that its here now.

  11. Good New BIS Users
Linkedin for Blackberry has been updated to v1.0.1 which support BIS coonection. I have tested it and it works perfect this time.

    Download at

  12. Support the Storm/Storm2 already. I use linkedin a lot but I get busy too and forget to check sometimes. It would be nice to use it on my Storm2, but it seems Verizon is even jerking the Storm2 around these days and pushing out new features for the lame curve and tour
