There has been a trend recently with companies pushing for more environmentally friendly chargers that don’t suck “Vampire Power” when not in use. The latest to join the fray is the EcoCharge by Ventev. The company claims their charger does not draw any vampire power when the device is fully charged or when there is no device connected. It still uses a tiny amount of power otherwise there would have to be an on/off switch on the device.
The EcoCharge also has a second USB port for you to charge a second gadget simultaneously which is a nice plus. Its like getting two chargers in one. The standard plug is either MicroUSB or MiniUSB but you can plug any other USB device into the auxiliary USB charging port.
The EcoCharge is Energy Star certified with a 5 star rating claiming to be 10x better than the current industry standard and lower than any available charger. The best part is that the charger is available now though the downside is that it costs $29.99 which is almost 3+ times the street cost of a OEM BlackBerry charger.
