Rumored Features for Official BlackBerry Twitter Client Update

Twitter Loading While many people managed to get a copy of the Official BlackBerry Twitter client when it leaked it has yet to be officially released. I am not sure what is taking RIM so long but according to this rumor they are working on fixing the annoying lag in the application every time you wait for a page to load. Maybe RIM should integrate a Tetris game to play while you wait for the app to update the information…

The latest news out of the rumor mill comes to us courtesy of Peter @BBNews.pl. He managed to score some details about what is coming for the BlackBerry Twitter client in the future.

  • General performance and speed improvements (I CANT WAIT!)
  • Ability to edit a users profile
  • Support for Twitter Lists
  • Specific features added for OS 6.0 devices:
    • Manual Address Book linking
    • Setup Wizard integration
    • Universal Search integration

What do you think?

  1. I hope RIM read this… Its not just the app that lags, its 5.0 Firmware. It hangs in native app’s, it hang’s in other third party apps, it hangs when unlocking with a great big black blank screen for about 10-15 seconds (white screen in previous releases), thanks for changing that one RIM, it at least fits in with my black theme.

    • I get a lot of white screen too. Maybe RIM developers are big fans of Arrested Development. I know I am, but that white screen on my smartphone is just aggravating.

    • Really?

I find BlacklBerry OS 5.0.x.x to be a LOT faster and stable!

Not so sure about Research in Motion’s (RIM) Twitter client as I have not tried it, but the rest of the operating system overall seems to be faster and more stable than the previous version I had installed…

  2. Haha OS 6.0 how about releasing it for 5.0 first and unless they plan on giving us 6.0 soon which I doubt 5.0 has not even been officially released by tmobile or att for their older devices beside the 9700

  3. How about letting you edit a ReTweet ?

Will that make it in the feature list ? I have to switch to another client if I have to reTweet to fit everything in the character limit…

    • The actual retweet feature on Twitter does not allow for that, so I doubt they will ever be able to include that functionality.

You could just do the original RT method, which is what most people I know prefer to do anyway.

  4. Interesting. Sort of.

  5. Maybe RIM should integrate a Tetris game to play while you wait for the app to update the information…

    LoL..
    That’s a good idea mate..
Anyway, I think the competitor (you know who) is better in many ways
But I’m still (not so) eagerly waiting this RIM twitter client though

  6. Most (if not ALL!) of those features are BASIC features that should be implemented from day 1!
