MasterCard Releases Free ATM Hunter App to Help Find ATM’s

atm-hunter Living in Manhattan you really do not need to walk more than a block to reach an ATM but I can understand how ATM Hunter would be useful. MasterCard just released the free app to help you find the nearest ATM around the world.

The app is intended to help you search and locate the nearest ATM using GPS or just through searching. It also lets you refine the results based on if the location is wheelchair accessible, drive-through, or 24-hour access ATMs and provide directions for BlackBerry smartphone users.

Features include:

  • Finds ATMs based on your current location.
  • Find ATMs based on any address or airport location in the world.
  • Tells you whether an ATM is a bank ATM or an ATM in a local store, as well as exactly where it’s located, i.e., at a store, gas station, etc.
  • Locates your own bank’s ATMs when you want to make a deposit or a withdrawal.
  • Provides you with the distance between your chosen location and the closest ATM.
  • Filters your search based on the following ATM features: Drive through, 24-hr. service, wheelchair accessible, surcharge fess, and deposit sharing.
  • Provides you with driving directions and a map to the nearest ATM location.

  1. Tried it last week on my Verizon Storm running OS and it fails to get location.

  2. Sadly, this appears to be a port of an iPhone app. Had a hard time accessing the BB GPS. And when you do find something and try to show the map, it only uses BlackBerry Maps. No option to change or setup to use Goggle Maps. Pretty much a failed port without using the same maps it does on the iPhone. Remember MasterCard, AT&T doesn’t let it’s users have BlackBerry Maps. Only those that know enough about the BB to overcome this AT&T policy could use your map/directions feature.

    • Forgot to add, fails at locating ATMs INSIDE an airport when using an airport code. Every airport I entered sent me to location outside the airport. Yet I know there are several ATMs inside each airport code I entered. This would be a big thing for me because I normally need cash BEFORE I leave the airport to pay the taxi. 🙁

  3. This will be so useful for foreigners in Tokyo 🙂
