Official Forum Post Says BIS 3.0 Has Gmail 2-Way Sync???

failing_back_to_square_one Now things are getting even more confusing. We have already seen that BIS 3.0 was rolled out without Gmail 2-Way sync of unread/read items. The confusing part is that SaiBES a BlackBerry Technical Advisor on the official BlackBerry Support Forums just posted an announcement of BIS 3.0 with a full listing of its features. Guess what is included in that feature list? You got it right!

  • Updates to the Enhanced Google Mail™ plug-in for BlackBerry smartphones
    • Google Mail account to BlackBerry smartphone synchronization of read/unread status and sent items
    • Create and delete labels using the BlackBerry smartphone

Now when you go back to the Knowledge Base article with the same details and you see that line was carefully deleted. Both of these articles are linked from the official BIS support page. Confused yet?

So what’s the story RIM??? Was the feature scrapped or not?

  1. Two way sync has probably been removed for BIS 3.0.

I’m in Europe, have moved this week end to BIS 3.0 and two way sync does not work 🙁

    • Folks, I can confirm BIS3.0 upgrade for the at least the ME (Middle East) portion of EMEA rolled out on March 6-7 and not yesterday.
I can also confirm there is NO 2-way GMAIL sync. and basically other than some cosmetic changes to the email setup utility on my BB no obvious improvement.

  2. They’re rolling it out gradually. They usually do. You’ll see it soon.
