Alaska Airlines Releases Free App for Mobile Check-in & More

Alaska-air-app Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air just announced a new BlackBerry app that they released in App World. The app goes beyond what they have done with their mobile site at mobile.alaskaair.com and adds some nice features you can see listed after the jump.

The app is totally free and could be a real boon if you fly Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air frequently. You can find it at this link in App World. Otherwise you may want to look at apps like WorldMate to manage your itinerary.

  • Flight Status: Check your flight status.
  • Check-In: Check in 1 to 24 hours prior to your scheduled departure.
  • Schedules: Review our daily flight schedules.
  • Flight Alerts: Create a flight alert for any Alaska Airlines or Horizon Air flight.
  • My Trips: View a list of upcoming trips using your My Account user ID and password. Review your itinerary details, add a mileage program number, and change seats.
  • View Reservation: Review your itinerary details, add a mileage program number, view upgrade status, and change seats.
  • Contact Us, Privacy Policy, & View Full Site

  1. Personally, I much prefer a good mobile website for travel related sites rather than a unique application for each. For example, United has a new Mobile website (beta) (http://mobile.united.com) that provides access to most (or all) of the features offered by Alaska’s BlackBerry app. I simply create a homescreen launcher icon for frequently used sites (such as United) using Matthias Marquardt’s new application Iconify (http://emacberry.com/iconify.html) — much smaller footprint, and there is no need to install updates (no local client app to be installed).

  2. Interesting. I would have to agree though I’d rather visit a website than install an app for every airlines.
