Free Cellmon App Provides GSM Network Diagnostics

Cellmon1 Cellmon2

Luis let me know about this cool new Cellmon utility that was released by Mooo. The app reminds me of SignalLoc and is an awesome utility for network junkies. It provides you with some serious network and diagnostic information for your BlackBerry in a very easy to read format.

Features include:

  • shows current signal level in dBm
  • signal level / RSSI diagram
  • GSM network information like MCC, MNC, LAC…
  • notification about base stations changes (green LED + vibrate alarm)
  • notification about network/carrier changes (blue LED + vibrate) (for example roaming)
  • list of used base stations
  • WIFI information and signal diagram

Supported devices include Blackberry 9500, 9520, 9000, 9700, 8900, 8520, … with OS 5 or 4.7 and according to the product page it will NOT run and crash on CDMA BlackBerrys like 9530, 9550.

Check out more information about the app at or you can download it at

  1. Poo Poo. Why can’t someone come up with one of these that will work on all networks. Just sad to waste time on something that only works on part of the phones available.

    • That is because only about 5% of all cell phones are CDMA based because the US is the only country with CDMA wireless networks. CDMA died everywhere else in favor of the better GSM standard long long ago.

  2. i get a “Error staring CellMon: Class ‘net.rim.device.api.ui.TouchEvent’ not found.”

  3. I liked this tiny apps…useful for me!
