JAJAH is a popular dial around service for making cheap international calls. It does this by setting up a phone call to both your phone and the recipients phone over their network to cut down costs. I could have sworn they used to have a BlackBerry app but it looks like they pulled it.
Almoko has stepped up and provided a very nice JAJAH app experience with JAJAH Dialer. The app is on sale for $2.99 until March 8th after which it goes up to $4.99. They seem to include all of JAJAH’s features that you would want on your BlackBerry so if you were looking for a cheaper way to make international calls this may be it.
Giveaway Details: Almoko has been kind enough to give us a coupon code for 50 free copies of JAJAH Dialer to the first 50 readers who use the code 1BerryReview in the checkout process at this link. First come first serve but if you get a copy don’t forget to thank Almoko in the comments!
Features include:
- Make all International calls via JAJAH automatically to save cost
- Show or hide Caller ID information
- Call from your Contacts, Call Logs, Messages and the Phone application
- Show or hide the per minute cost of your calls
- Change your default phone number while in roaming

Just downloaded and tested this app – it’s great. Best thing is that from any contact you can select ‘Jajah call’ from the context menu and you’re away.
Simple to set up and works perfectly. Couldn’t ask for more.

I’ve compared both of the apps. Almoko’s app is quite a bit more advanced and convenient:
* It doesn’t look like Jajah has checked how the app behaves on a Storm. It’s made for non-touch models, basically
* There’s no way to sign up as a new user from the app
* You can’t set your default number from the app
* You can set Almoko’s app to dial international numbers automatically via JAJAH – couldn’t find a way to do this with Jajah’s app
* The User Interface is simply not as good as Almoko’s app – way less convenient
* You can search your Contacts right from Almoko’s app in a very native, convenient way
Almoko’s app will also soon add Conference calling capabilities…
Ya’ll should give both apps a try and make your own decision. 🙂

The Jajah service itelf is similar to Skype, except that it does not require a computer, and is completely accessible from a mobile phone. I am using Jajah Service now.
