I have been a pretty consistent user of Slacker since I started using their station caching feature in the subway. Once I upgraded to the plus subscription version of Slacker the service is much more usable. Still I was always annoyed that I had to update the station cache by plugging my BlackBerry into my PC since I never do that. A bit back Slacker released a version 3 of their app to Canada with wireless station caching and the promised it would be coming to the US soon. Well its here! It also brings a whole new look for the Slacker app at the same time.
From what I can tell they have also added the ability to sync your currently played song to Twitter along with some new options and setting pages. You can pick up the latest version at m.slacker.com and let me know if you notice any other changes!
I have a few pet peeves with Slacker that I hope are fixed in this version:
- I hope it no longer corrupts your SD card like version 2 did every once in awhile
- It was annoying that you could not start up the application if you had degraded data coverage
- I hated the fact that if you started the app and then exited it before the main screen showed up you had to start it all over again
- I also wish Slacker implemented the Bluetooth Headphone controls like
Keep the updates coming!
Thanks to Devin for sending this in!

Three tries upgrading my Storm to Slacker 3.0. All three failed with 907 Invalid COD error message. Trying now by deleting 2.0 and then install 3.0.

Deleting 2.0 and installing 3.0 worked and it acquired my Plus license.

LOVE THE WIRELESS CACHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Only thing is it’s only free for 14-days for basic users. Now I’m seriously considering upgrading to plus. Pandora has nothing on this.
P.S. To the storm user, works fine on my Bold!!!

Why Slacker is not available in other countries?

Doesn’t look like it’s for the Curve 8330… website says 2.0 and the download link takes you to version 2.0.91

My Storm 2 (9550) on Verizon keeps crashing when I load 3.0. Keeps erroring out. It took me almost 2 hours to cache stations wirelessly then when I try to play the cached stations I get an error again that the app could not open up the program.
Frustrating. I didn’t have any of these issues with the older version.

Good thing the BlackBerry App World still had the older version. It let me downgrade the version when I attempted to reinstall it.
3.0 keeps crashing and then forces me to login again with my email address constantly. I’m also using the Storm 9550 like the user above. I’m using the current stock OS that Verizon provides in case it matters.

I remember when slacker first came out. It made my curve crash every time I used it. It took what seemed like 4-5 releases before it was a mostly usable version. The current 2.x version is pretty slow but never makes my 8330 crash any more.
