ShopBlackBerry App Released for US and Canada

shopblackberryapp I am not sure how many of you have ever purchased accessories from but it is RIM’s official accessory store. They overcharge for practically all of their accessories just like carriers but you can sometimes get a good deal on Bluetooth & other accessories.

Tom let us know that ShopBlackBerry has just launched their own BlackBerry apps. One app for the US and one for Canada. The app does have a nice feature where it detects your device and only shows you accessories that are compatible. The irony is that the device cannot detect what country you are currently in so you need a different app for the US or Canada. It lets you checkout using your credit card which is odd since App World uses PayPal. (BBWallet anyone?)

Try out the app at the links below and let me know what you think. Personally I found the app visually appealing but using it was cumbersome. It does not hold a candle to the Amazon BlackBerry app which is surprising since you would think RIM would have better developers…

  1. Meh.

It’s just another in a long list of services that is unavailable to those outside of North America, Canada and/or the United Kingdom… Just another example of how Research in Motion (RIM) is going to get left behind.
