Browse forums on your BlackBerry with BerryBlab

Forums are great source of technical help or general knowledge. You can learn a lot reading forums, no matter what topic. But reading forums on a BlackBerry is often not a pleasant experience. Forums are most definitely not designed for small screens. Some forums have “mobile” versions, but those are rarely good.

The Generation Media Group knows that and has just introduced BerryBlab. BerryBlab lets you use vBulletin forums on a BlackBerry without using the Web browser. It’s a vBulletin assistant application. The free version lets you access multiple forums, view the threads and posts and read your private messages. If you buy the Premium version, you can also subscribe or unsubscribe to threads, reply to posts, reply to private messages and view images.

Sadly, not all forums run on vBulletin, so the usefulness of BerryBlab is somewhat limited. Also, the forum has to install a plugin, which means that not even all vBulletin forums will work. Having said that, I suggest checking their Web site and also the screenshots.

  1. I tried it, and i’ll pass. Most of the sites that I would want don’t run on vbulletin, and those that do why would I ask them to install the plugin just for me?

  2. It’s a great idea, especially when forums don’t send the latest post. I really hope they’re going to make it more universal.

  3. Just installed it on both of my vBulletin sites, and its quite good. Like it!
