New App: Iconify 0.8.3, public BETA

After a while in closed beta, Iconify is finally released in public BETA.

Iconify is a brand new application brought to you by that, basically, lets you create an “Iconify Dial Link” to any contact of your BlackBerry address book directly on your Home screen. In fact, you can create Home screen icons/links for phone numbers, SMS, email addresses or even Web pages. That’s pretty much what it amounts to, but if you want a rather lenghty description of all the features – limitations and possibilities – be sure to check the application’s Web page:

Iconify should run on all BlackBerry devices with OS 4.3 or higher. It has been tested on the 8110, 8130, 8220, 8310, 8330, 8700, 8800, 8820, 8830, 8900, 9000, 9500, 9520, 9530, 9550, 9630 and 9700 models. If you don’t believe them, give it a try yourself. Here is the OTA link:

Just go there and check the page, it seems that all questions are answered already. Even a handy online manual is provided. If you have a question that doesn’t seem to be answered, contact Matthias Marquardt, he sounds like a pretty nice guy. You can also post your questions right here on this page, in the comment section. I suspect that Matthias will be keeping an eye on it.  😉

  1. Another phenomenal application from the developer of FileScout (formerly BBFileScout) GPSLogger, and GPSies Connect! Thank you, Matthias, for all of your hard work!

  2. This guy has great apps.

  3. Useless…it’s already very easy to get to a contact quickly, all you do is start typing their name on the homescreen and hit the green call button. This is a solution to a problem that isn’t a big deal.

  4. Or you combine this with one of the shortcut apps and you can dial or email someone, or go to a web page, in two clicks…

Plus not everybody has homescreen dialing turned on.

  5. Thank you Matthias for another great app! Will this BETA self destruct on 1st June? 😉

    • I’m actually experiencing problems in getting the Iconify icon to actually show itself. Its not hidden nor to be found in Downloads folder (or anywhere else). Yet, the apps shows it is installed via Options > Applications. Nothing untoward seen in logfile.

I’ve tried battery pulls etc… Any suggestions? (9700/OS5.0.0.442)

      • Ahhh, there is no icon… I just saw the “Create Dial IconifyLink” and Create Dial IconifyLink” menu items within my address book…

        • 🙂 Actually in one of the next builds I will include a Default App Icon – Launching the app will point you in the right directions…

Actually I have to admit, that I did not thought about the fact, that users are searching for an App icon after an successful installation

  6. From what I can see it’s a 14 day trial of a beta?

    • Matthias posted the following response to your question on another forum:

      “14 day Trial expired?

Once your 14 day trial have expired you can enter any 12 digit number as “fake” Registration Code in this BETA build in order to continue to use this Iconify BETA Version – of course this will only work till a official final release of the Application.”

  7. Awesome – it works

  8. I dled iconify yesterday, tried to use it, then gave in and read the step by step on the download page. Works great!

I’m going to caricature some of my photos in PSP7 so I can have some great icons for my wife and kids.

  9. Matthias has posted an update that addresses several issues identified by users — Iconify 0.8.4 can be found using the same links, including change logs.

  10. Iconify has now been released (latest is now v1.0.3), and it is available via the BerryReview Store in 15- and 50-link versions — a 14-day free trial is also available.
