James Cameron’s 3D Avatar movie has been making waves around the world and now it has come to your BlackBerry. Gameloft has released a new Avatar game this month along with Airborne Mobile’s release of an Avatar Neytiri theme. Usually I stay away from games created by Gameloft due to their bad controls but maybe the movie tie-in will save the game.
What I found most interesting is that the Avatar game ($4.99 in App World) costs less than the Avatar Neytiri theme ($5.99 in App World). This is a trend I have been noticing where games get priced below themes. You would think that games involve more development costs and would cost more but more often we are finding they are priced below what a theme costs.
What do you think?

About the theme prices versus the game prices – I don’t want to offend any themers out there but I feel that maybe 95% of all themes are overpriced for what you get in relation to a quality game or app on my BlackBerry. I suspect that prices will fall on themes as the competition increases. Just my opinion.

I agree. I don’t really like the themes costing so much. They aren’t really worth paying over 99 cents. Games on the other hand, I’d pay up to 10 or 12, if it’s a good game. Give me a classic game any day for 99 cents

Just had a look at the Avatar BB themes in the Appworld. They are good stuff, and probably little known fact, but they were made by Tony of CockyCulture.com

Very cool that Tony could get the rights to release them!

Actually he was hired I believe by the company that has the rights to do that.

The Avatar theme is so beautifully done, it’s worth every penny. I’m sure Cameron would be proud. If only it came with 3D glasses…
