A Blessed BlackBerry?

pope-blessing Tashanna let us know about this curiosity inspiring article by Raphael Satter at the AP. Turns out that one British church has just started blessing cellphones on the traditional “Plow Monday” ceremony. The tradition used to be for farming implements but Rev Canon David Parrott decided to update the tradition this year to something more relevant.

Still it makes me wonder… Would a blessed BlackBerry protect you from dropping it or clean out the recent OS bugs? Let us know if you try since I am going to go speak to my Rabbi…

  1. I don’t think you Rabbi would like the idea :)

  2. And we wonder why people are superstitious; gives religion a bad name.

  3. Well… I’m not sure religion is doing themselves any good. But for the superstitious, go for it. What can you lose for blessing your BlackBerry? Maybe 3 hours of your life you’ll never get back, cause you stood in line. But hey, you’ve blessed your BlackBerry.

  4. I wonder if the blessing is IMEI based? Would the license, oops I mean blessing, carry over from one BlackBerry to the next one?

  5. If you’ve ever had a BB that was cursed, having one blessed doesn’t seem so far fetched…

  6. No offence to the religious, but this is just sad…
