BlackBerry Messenger Officially Released!

BBM5-56 Jed let me know that BlackBerry Messenger has officially been released by RIM just days after a previous update. I guess RIM got some work done during the outage. 🙂 You can find it at: or at

Check it out and let us know what you find! Hopefully this upgrade fixes the annoying spell check problem in the last update.

  1. Do not install this…
On my 9700 Bold 2, it totally bricked it and I cannot get into boot with it blinking the red light endlessly.

  2. I just installed this on my Bold (9000) and it’s working perfectly. Don’t know what changes were made. The spell check seems to be working fine as far as I can tell.

  3. I’ve been using the bbm version .55 for the past 2 days and love how they finally brought back the ability to preview IM’s before saving. A definite step in the right direction.

  4. Works perfect on my 9000..I don’t see any changes was fine before

  5. Via appworld description: The latest version of BlackBerry Messenger addresses some of the issues identified in BlackBerry Messenger, such as file transfer not working or working slowly, no file preview, and file transfer requests expiring after a short period of time. This version does not include any new features. The Check Spelling As You Type feature has also been restored for all devices.
