Bishop Scientifics let us know about their new accessory that really interested me. Especially considering how simple it is and how nobody thought of it before… It is essentially just a leather pad with an earth magnet in it that activates your “in holster” profile.
That means you just put your phone down on the pad (on your desk) and it will automatically switch profiles. For example, you can set your phone to automatically switch to vibrate only when on the pad… Pretty cool idea!
The Hyberpad is not too expensive at $14.95 on Amazon and sounds like a really cool accessory to have lying around.
Check out a video of it in action at this link.

I have the little leather pouch that came with the Curve sitting next to me. When I want to “sleep it” I just put it over the magnetic strip. It’s a little bit of a pain to get the right position sometimes – but not a $15 pain.

People pay that much for a charging cradle so its not ridiculous… but I wish it were cheaper.

Oh, I can see the potential damage for this. They should have a label on it that warns, “Do not place your wallet on this!” I’ve learned the hard way to not keep my pouched Blackberry in the same pocket as my wallet.

I bought 1 for myself on amazon to try. What a GREAT, simple idea.
I leave it on my desk in the office and will get one for home as well.
I can definitely see a corporate logo on these for larger companies!

I agree. It’s a great idea! I live and die by the sleeper magnet in my pouch case. It’s the only reason I’m not willing to use any other case.

I have mine in a nice Prima skin and the sleeper still works perfectly.

Seriously! Hard to believe nobody thought of this before since the magnetic “sleeper” function has been in every model since what, the 71xx series?

Actually, you still have “earth”. Should be “Earth”.

I thought you only capitalize earth when you are talking about the planet Earth… This is more talking about rare-earth magnets that cause the BlackBerry to go into sleep mode:
