The leaks for the BB Bold 9700 OS are on a roll the newest one to hit the net is version 5.0.0.421. BlackBerry Messenger 5.0.0.54 comes bundled with this version you can pick it up at this link: Via BBleaks.
his is not an official OS and you may Brick your Berry if you do not know what you are doing. If you do decide to do the upgrade do so at you own risk, always do a back up of you contacts and 3rd party apps.

Downloaded and installed: overall seems great new improvements in BBM (from .52) is that there’s no preview button, but the pictures get previewed and you have the option to accept or decline, for battery life I don’t know yet – we’ll see tomorrow, what I did notice is that it is now taking forever for my BBM groups to recover – I don’t know if this was an issue on previous versions, as I wasn’t part of any BBM groups until recently, but this is for sure a thing to take into consideration, also, I noticed that when I put the BlackBerry in the charging cradle for a while and then remove it, the screen goes black until I press the escape key which returns me to the main screen

So far its stable for me. but for whatever reason when going through the menus (scrolling thru them up and down) will cause a shadow/overlap of the words. hopefully somebody nows what I’m talking about.
